  • No Hidden Costs
  • No Kidding

Smith's Hearing Care was founded over 40 years ago by Faye and Hubert Smith of Greenville, NC. The Smith's were among the first hearing aid dealers in Eastern North Carolina. Over the years, the Smiths served the entire easten section of North Carolina, with more than 25 offices and service centers. At the time the Smiths entered the hearing aid industry it was largely unregulated.

Because of his strong background in education, Mr. Smith, MS.Ed, realized that if the profession was going to grow, two things had to happen. First and most importantly, the public had to be protected and secondly, the people who dispensed hearing aids needed to be licensed in order to insure competence. Mr. and Mrs. Smith, along with help from of a small group of professionals from across the state, came together to form The North Carolina State Hearing Aid Dealers And Fitters Board. Today, the Board continues to protect the public. North Carolina is one of the most difficult states in the country to obtain a license to fit and sell hearing aids. It also has some of the most stringent advertising guidelines in the nation.

Faye and Hubert Smith are now deceased, but their work is being carried on by a dedicated group of professionals. Hubert T. Smith III owns and operates the Jacksonville office. Gene Griffin owns and operates the Washington location. Even though the businesses are separately owned, customers of either business can feel free to stop in at any of the offices for service, batteries, etc.

At Smith's Hearing Care, we always take time to talk with you and answer your questions. We explain carefully your options and assist you in making the most well informed decision possible about the appropriate aids for your lifestyle and your particular hearing loss.

We strive to make you and your family members feel comfortable. We make certain that you understand what hearing aids will and will not do for you. You will gain a knowledge of different types and styles of hearing aids from the basic to the most sophisticated 100% digital. You will leave with a clear understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of each, the costs involved, and specific recommendations. In many cases you will be able to actually HEAR the product in the office, to assist in your decision making process.

Whether your hearing needs call for 100% digital or simply the best product for your budget, Smith's Hearing Care can provide you with the services and instruments you need.

Our services are not only for people who have hearing problems. We offer custom made hearing protection for hunters, people who work in a noisy environment, and many more. In addition, custom-made in-the-ear monitors are available to musicians, and custom fit earpieces for hands-free cellular phone operation are available. And, the popular custom-made swim molds are a must-have for both children and adults who enjoy swimming and going to the beach.

We're here to help people with hearing deficiencies live the life they want with the hearing they have. See our services page for more information.
